This short-term course equips students with the skills and competencies needed to work as healthcare assistants and serves as a stepping stone towards a nursing career. The program includes 3 months of theoretical learning and 2 months of practical placement, ensuring students gain substantial hands-on experience.
This course supports students who do not meet the direct admission criteria for the Certificate in Enrolled Nursing and Midwifery Science.
Admission requirements include:
– A Certificate in Health Care Assistant (6 months) and one year of work experience, or
– 20 points in Grade 10 or 18 points in Grade 11/12 with an F symbol in English.
Admission requirements include:
– A Certificate in Nursing Foundation from Essence, or
– A Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing from an accredited institution (approved by HPCNA), or
– 22 points in Grade 11/12 with at least an E symbol in English and passes in two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Developmental Studies, or Natural Science.
